My love affair for fashion started in highschool when I took my first trip abroad for a dance competition to London, England. While in England, I fell in love with the British etiquette and customs which are much like the Southern customs I grew up knowing and loving. I was so inspired by my experience and returned home and knew I wanted to pursue a fashion degree at LSU (Louisiana State University). During my first year of college I participated in the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Pageant and got to design my first hat while working with Yvonne LaFleur at her boutique located Uptown in New Orleans, Louisiana. This hat will always be special to me, it was an ivory cloche hat with ivory veiling and turn- of- the- century ivory flowers from France, creme silk ribbon from Switzerland and antique natural stripped feathers from Germany.
As a child I always dreamed of living in New York City. After college, I took the leap and moved to the big city. I quickly found my first job as assistant designer and showroom manager for MVP Showroom lead by Vanessa Witke. I worked for the showroom for nearly three years, while there I handled distribution of merchandise to five regional showrooms and worked with national magazines.
In addition to my work with the showroom I was an assistant designer for Vanessa’s own accessory line called, IBISCO. I pitched our accessory designs to buyers at high end department stores including Saks and Bloomingdales and sold them to designer boutiques at New York’s top trade shows including Intermezzo, ENK, and Coterie.
After feeling accomplished I married my college boyfriend and we then started our married life following his dream as a neurosurgery resident at UAB (University of Alabama Birmingham). I soon found a new passion working for a professional organizer and New Orleans native, Amanda LeBlanc of The Amandas as an assistant organizer. I fell hard for the crazy organizing world and realized how happy it made me while my sweet husband was working so hard while pursuing his dreams! It wasn’t brain surgery but I sure got a thrill out of it. After two wonderful years our lives quickly changed forever when Buddy suddenly passed away and I temporarily moved back home to Morgan City, Louisiana.
In the midst of my grief I decided I was going back to London to study millinery under Rose Cory, the milliner to the Queen Mum - and I did! I secured a three week internship with Rose and was able to travel to meet friends in Paris and Brussels before returning to the states.
After returning to the states I landed in Crested Butte, CO where I continued my love for millinery and started my company, FALU Millinery’ in 2010. While living and working in Crested Butte at the local golf course, my prayers were answered and my Heavenly angel sent me an Earth angel on hole four - it was my soon to be husband, Mark!
We got married and I followed him to my new hometown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where we began a family. Seeking a balance between a fulfilling career and motherhood is where Luxury Packing Group began! I started dreaming of blending my experiences in fashion and organizing and the rest is history.
I now offer a unique product where design, style, balance, scale, color, fit and function all come together. I love getting to live what I love while helping others feel more happy and whole in their homes.
